Review: The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (No Spoilers)
Hey people! I read a book called The Inheritance Games a while ago and really enjoyed it. This is a mystery book about a girl named Avery who randomly inherits 42.6 million dollars from a man named Tobias Hawthorne, a man she doesn't know. She and her sister are immediately sent to Hawthorne's estate in Texas, where she is given a catch to her inheritance. She must live in Hawthorne's estate for a year. While living there, she meets the four grandsons of Tobias Hawthorne and his other family, who all envy her for inheriting Tobias's assets and money. Throughout the book, she realizes that there may be more of a reason for her inheriting everything and tries to figure out these reasons.
This book is definitely the most exciting book I have ever read. The puzzles and riddles are well thought out, and I love the mystery aspect of it. I like that it's not a murder mystery but a general mystery. If you want a comparison to understand what I mean, think of the movie Knives Out. It's literally the same idea.
Also can we get away with the fact that this book has a love triangle, and the author pulls it off. Usually, I don't love triangles, but this one is good. It reminded me of Conrad and Jeremiah's type love triangle because, guess what, the two men in question that are in the love triangle are half brothers, Jameson and Grayson Hawthorne. To be clear, I am Team Jameson. As much as I loved the brooding blond, I like Jameson's personality more. I also think that he had more chemistry with Avery than Grayson did. Just slightly, but enough. Besides, Jameson's character matched with Avery's more, but that doesn't mean I don't love Grayson, so in the next book, I want justice for Grayson.
Anyway, that's it. I hope this makes you want to read this book! Happy Reading!
