Review of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

        Hi, I will review the popular book The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. First, I will do a spoiler-free review and then a review with spoilers.  But a basic summary of The Summer I Turned Pretty is that our main character, Belly, goes on a summer trip with her mother and brother to her Cousin's beach to meet her friends she has seen every summer for years, the Fischers and their famous brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah. There she realizes how this is a really different summer than the others. So, I give this book 3.5/5 stars. I will explain below. 

    For my spoiler-free review, although this was a cute read, the main character got somewhat annoying as the story went on. She was a pick-me girl and was self-centered. But the character Jeremiah, one of the Fischer brothers, was amazing. He was a funny and just all-around lovely character. Not going to lie; I was on team Jeremiah. Until the second book, at least, and that's a whole different story for a whole different time. And I'm not even going to start on Conrad. To put it blatantly, he took the idea of the mysterious bad boy to a whole other level. But onto the plot! The plot was ok and kept me interested enough throughout. Other than a few times, there was unnecessary fluff, but it came into context later, I guess.  But onto my spoiler review. If you don't want spoilers, then don't keep reading. You gone yet? 

ANYWAYYYY, onto my chaotic reviews. First, most of my general thoughts are above, but this will just be a rant. OK. So, you know what I said about Conrad. Yeah, he was annoying in the first book. Like, what are you trying to do? OOOOO, mysterious boy, how cute. But why did that work on so many characters in the book, making me want to slap my head? Also, I know Belly has been with the Fischers many times and got to know the brothers well, but why did she like Conrad. Like he was a straight-up nerd, and now he's a wannabe bad boy. But other than Conrad, we have Cam Cameron or just Cam. Get it? He was lovely, and Belly was just ugh. She needs to make a singular right decision. And she was constantly like: OH MY GOD, I LOVE CAM. I'M GOING TO FORGET ABOUT CONRAD! and literally two seconds later, she was like: I can never forget about Conrad. He will always have a special place in my heart, and I will never get over him! Then she breaks up with him and I felt so bad for Cam. He thought her got his dream girl and boom, she likes the bad boy. Also, how did it take so long for Belly to know Jeremiah liked her. He was literally obsessed with her, and she was so oblivious. He was constantly saying how gorgeous she looked and how nice she was, and she was like: NOOOO, I'm so ugly.  Finally, he actually had to say he liked her, and I had to feel like I was chucking the book out the window. (I was listening to it as an audiobook on a plane). It was so easy to tell. In the end, she ended up with Conrad, and I'm not happy. There you go, I have said it. I told you there would be spoilers. Ahh, time for the second book.
