2023 Top Five Books
Hey people, I wanted to share my top 5 favorite books/series (for now).
1. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I know it's basic, but there is a reason why it's so popular. The heist aesthetic was terrific, adding the right amounts of fantasy in all the right places. The characters helped achieve this aesthetic and idea, adding that the characters are so well-written and have a deep personality. They feel almost real.
2. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
The first few books are rough, but it gets much better. Honestly, the other books are so good that they make up for the other two books I didn't enjoy. The characters in this book were also good. The main reason this book series is so high up is because of Aaron Warner, but at this point, I don't know.
3. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
This series was phenomenal. The mystery, thrill, and excitement of reading this book are out of this world and I would do anything to read this series for the first time again. We obviously can't forget all the jokes Ravi cracked in this book were excellent, and I every detail of this book I loved. Like I said for Shatter Me, this book series is so high up because of Ravi Singh and Pippa Fitz-Amobi.
4. These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
This book is fantastic. The setting, characters, aesthetics, and plot were well thought out. Additionally, I loved that it's based on Romeo and Juliet. The author beautifully combined the basics of Romeo and Juliet and her own ideas. For example, the main characters are ROMA MONTAGOV and JULIET CAI. They are from rival gangs and are the heirs to their gang, meaning they come from very prominent families. I don't want to spoil everything, but there are many more.
5. The Lunar Chronicles by Melissa Meyers
To be clear, I have yet to have not liked a Meyer book (so far). But this one is defiantly my favorite. I loved the sci-fi/fantasy aspect of this book. But something that I find very creative is that this is a series based on fairytales. For example, Cinder, the first book, is based on Cinderella. Scarlet, the third book, is based on Little Red Riding Hood. Somehow the author managed to pull off a futuristic look to the less futuristic story of Cinderella. Additionally, the characters are very diverse, and their personalities are so well though out and realistic, which I love.
This is it. I hope you read these books! Happy reading!
