Review: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Hey people! I really wanted to review this book. Do you want to know why? Because this is the most overhyped book I have EVER seen. Like what even happens in this book. I'm not going to summarize it because it makes no sense. But I would give this book 2/5 stars because it is terrible. This book is supposed to be a psychological thriller. I see why. The aesthetic of this book will throw you off, but you'll get it in the end. It's like a beachy, rich people-type aesthetic. This old money-type aesthetic. But put it in with some...death, and this is this book.
While reading this book, I was confused about what was happening with this family. They have some serious problems, and so does the main character, Cadence. But honestly, I liked Gat and the rest of the crew. What happened in the end, they didn't deserve it. This book messed up my head, and the build-up to the main plot twist was so confusing that I didn't fully understand what happened. Like I said, They didn't deserve it, but here we are. This is why it was a thriller. But no, I would not recommend it. Only read if you feel like giving yourself a headache. This review is short, but it's the truth. Anyway, happy reading.
P.S. I'm not reading the prequel.
