Review: The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Hey people!!! I read this book a long time ago, but I thought it was about time to write a review for it. This will be a non-spoiler review, so you don't have to worry about that.

This book is about a young girl named Cassie who gets recruited to the FBI as a profiler, and now she gets to live with a few more kids like her in a unique program called the Naturals. Now, Cassie's profiling abilities are excellent and rare, making her a natural. To elaborate, some of the other kids in this program can detect lies and tell them flawlessly. One can detect emotions and so on. Here, she learns about honing her abilities and how she can eventually work for the FBI. But Cassie also has something else on her mind. Her mother was murdered a few years ago, and now, while in this program, she is learning more about it, how she could solve her mother's murder, and how it connects to her life in the present.

I actually loved this book. After reading the Inheritance Games, I had to give this one a shot, and it didn't disappoint. The Inheritance Games was a fast-paced and thrilling mystery, and so was this one. The fast pace kept me interested and got me out of a horrible reading slump. The plot was well thought out, and the twist kept me guessing, but it all tied up neatly at the end with a thrilling plot twist.

This book does have a love triangle. And if you expect it to be like the one in the Inheritance Games, you should because picking a guy was just as agonizing. They were both fantastic and had just exciting stories and personalities that made them such fantastic characters and love interests, but I won't say I'm disappointed. Although all of the characters have flaws, there weren't any that I really hated, but they all could be a bit annoying and cringeworthy at times; but then again, it's a book written in 2013, so what were we expecting. I practically ran to my laptop to place the next book on hold.

This is why I would give this book a 4/5. You should really read The Naturals. Happy reading!
